Volunteering isn’t just something we do at St Paul’s - it’s who we are.
From Monday 1st to Sunday 7th June, we’re joining the national celebration of Volunteers’ Week, shining a bright and grateful spotlight on every person who gives their time, energy, and compassion to help our church and community flourish.
Whether you serve tea after services, run children’s groups, help maintain the building, welcome newcomers, or quietly support others behind the scenes, you are part of the living, breathing work of St Paul’s. You make this place feel like home.
Claire Evans, Community Development Worker at St Paul’s, shares:
“We shouldn’t underestimate the value of what we call ‘people power’ in our neighbourhoods. Giving your time and skills to others has so many benefits — not just for the community, but for volunteers themselves.
Volunteers play a crucial role in community development, helping to alleviate social issues and fostering a sense of belonging and connection. They also contribute to the economy by reducing staffing costs and improving employment outcomes, offering a safe space for people to try new things.
Many people who regularly give back say it enhances their wellbeing and helps them build meaningful connections with others, which can lead to improved mental health.
These are just a few of the reasons volunteers are so vital — socially, economically, and personally. So from all of us at St Paul’s, we want to recognise and celebrate our volunteers’ contribution to our community and say a BIG thank you!”
Throughout Volunteers’ Week, we’ll be highlighting some of the incredible volunteering roles and opportunities available at St Paul’s.
