St Paul’s Men’s Group - By Andrew Barkley

A few years ago, a men’s group was created at St Paul’s as a chance for blokes to get together for socials and to grow in fellowship and discipleship together. However, overtime the group fizzled out apart from the occasional message on the WhatsApp group.
Recently, it was decided that it was about time for the group to start up again so a curry night was organised. Seventeen men, of all ages, came along to the Three Swords in Horsforth. It was a chance for people to get to know each other better over a curry and a drink. The evening was a success and it was agreed to that it would be good continue with more activities in the future.
The next social is taking place on the 18th October and will be a “Taskmaster” night, based on the popular TV show. It will be an evening where lateral thinking, problem solving and a good sense of humour will be needed to complete a variety of challenges set by St Paul’s very own Taskmaster. All men are welcome and feel free to invite friends and family along. If you would like to come though, please let me know at
The long term aim of the men’s group is simple; to become a supportive group who support each other in their faith, pray together and spend time in fellowship together. In the future, I hope to plan prayer and worship events as well as guest speakers and trips out. If anyone has any ideas for socials or meet-ups, please chat to me and we can organise it together.
