Leeds Faith In Schools; Sponsor A Christmas Lesson - By Emma Chadwick
So the 2026/27 academic year has started well at LFIS.
In the last 7 weeks, we’ve:
Run 300 mentoring sessions across 9 schools
Seen 283 kids attend break time and lunchtime clubs across 5 schools
Seen 264 kids attend weekly after-school drop-in clubs across 3 drop-ins
We’ve also started a new drop-in over in Wetherby, partnering with St James’ Church. We’ve begun mentoring again in Horsforth School and gained additional capacity for mentoring in Garforth Academy with a fantastic new volunteer mentor.
Young people need and want to hear the gospel, which makes our work so important, valuable and needed.
We’re nearly entering the Christmas season (dare I say it!) and for many of us, that’s incredibly busy, and for LFIS, it’s certainly our busiest period of the year. We will be touring across 9+ secondary schools delivering a lesson about how Jesus is the real hope of Christmas: that life can often let us down, but a relationship with Jesus and the hope we find in Him is what Christmas is really all about. We do this through fun, engaging activities and testimony, and schools are wanting us to come and deliver this lesson more than ever. Last year, we delivered 47 Christmas lessons, meaning that over 1,400 students received a gospel-centred message of Christmas with the opportunity to respond and accept Christ for themselves. What an amazing and privileged opportunity we have!
We’d like to invite you to engage with our “Sponsor a Christmas Lesson” initiative. Why not collaborate with your small group to donate a package of lessons? Why not pay for a whole school's worth of lessons? As a family, why not talk to your children about this message of Christmas and donate to sponsor 1 lesson?
If you’d like to donate, either follow the link to give via Stewardship: bit.ly/lfisgift (and if you can Gift Aid, please complete this form: https://forms.gle/SeXH5wotpi94sQU7A).
Let’s get the real message of Christmas into as many young people’s hearts this Christmas.
