On Sunday 7th June we had the joy of celebrating as a church with baptisms and
confirmations. In the morning service, one of our young people was baptised and another
affirmed their baptismal vows. In the afternoon we were joined by Bishop Arun, along with
people from several other churches, for a North West Deanery confirmation service where
10 young people and adults were confirmed.
Here’s a brief reminder of what baptism and confirmation are all about:
Baptism (Welcome)
Baptism is a welcome into new life in Christ, celebrating God's love and welcoming you into the Church. Using water as a sign of new life, it marks the beginning of a lifelong
journey of faith surrounded by the support of the Christian community.
Confirmation (Commission)
Confirmation is a step of commitment and commissioning, where you publicly affirm the promises of your baptism and are strengthened by the Holy Spirit. Through the bishop's prayer and laying on of hands, you are encouraged and equipped to live confidently as a
follower of Jesus.
One of the most joyful moments in both services was hearing the testimonies of those being baptised and confirmed. The candidates shared why they had chosen to take this step of faith, reflecting on God's faithfulness and love throughout their lives, and how He has comforted, guided, and sustained them through some challenging circumstances.
Please pray for those who were baptised and confirmed, as they continue in their journey of faith.
If you or your children are interested in being baptised or confirmed, then please speak to or email Bev, Mark or Dave.
